Unwanted Hair

FAQs

How does ELOS get rid of my hair?

The ELOS uses gentle light and electric energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle and prevents it from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area.

Is treatment with ELOS safe?

Treatment is very safe for the skin.  There are many advances in the ELOS technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colours. There are no long-term health hazards from light or electric energies used in the ELOS.  Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.  There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment that will be discussed with your ELOS clinician during consultation.

What kind of results can I expect from ELOS treatment?

Each ELOS treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in colour, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment.  It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area.  Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors.  Lighter coloured hair may require more treatments than darker coloured hair.

How frequently do I need treatments?

The treatments are usually performed every 6 to 12 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that your ELOS clinician will discuss with you during consultation.

Does the treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling.  The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or tingling sensation for a short time afterward.  Most people tolerate treatment without any topical anaesthetic.

What happens after each treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will “shed” some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks, and you may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment.

What areas can be treated?

Face, Underarm, Bikini, Brazilian, Legs, Backs, Chests

IF IT IS TOO-GOOD-TO-BE-TRUE…  IT PROBABLY IS…

Consumer Warning: Don’t suffer burns from inferior hair removal lasers, or poorly trained laser operators.

Watch out for “too-good-to-be-true” deals

Do not get fooled by advertising for the cheap laser hair removal. Cheap laser hair removal is cheap for a reason. Many clients come to us after these “too-good-to-be-true” deals, with burns and untreated hairs.

Burns from inferior hair removal lasers are due to poorly trained laser operators and or inferior equipment. Laser hair removal machines range in price from $5000 to $150,000. Obviously a $150,000 machine will provide a much better and safer result.

The Chandler Clinic only uses proven technology (both FDA and TGA approved), after a thorough consultation with our skin consultants. Our skin consultants have been extensively trained by Dr Tracy Chandler. Laser hair removal treatments can leave you with permanent scars in untrained hands. Make sure you see a professionally trained laser operator who is using an approved, effective and safe laser.
